Day 16 in the hospital
Day 4 post chemo
Tuesday, September 12, 2017 – My last day of induction chemo. Walking the halls with the boys. |
Tuesday, September 12, 2017 – Spending time with my little family. It’s hard for them to come visit a lot, busy schedules and chaos ensues, but when they do, I’m so grateful to see them. |
I’ve spent the last few days sleeping. Wednesday at 5am they took me off my last bag of chemo. I slept that entire day! Thursday and Friday was lots of laying around, not quite as much sleeping, but there was doing nothing that used any brain cells. It took all my energy just to get up to go to the bathroom or chew my food.
Wednesday, September 13, 2017 – Zach stayed with me in my room most of the day even though I just slept. |
Today, I’m feeling a little bit more energy. I’m not pushing myself though. Taking it nice and easy and just letting my body heal.
The BFF flew half way across the country to just be with me this weekend. I love her! Zach knew that he would be very busy with kid stuff this weekend and would have a hard time getting here. He knew that she is the only other person I would want to be here with me. He knew I wouldn’t feel like I had to entertain her or push myself. I could just be me. I’m glad they talked me into letting her come. I didn’t want to feel like a burden. I already feel like a very high maintenance hospital patient. It’s just so nice to have her here. Even if I’m half asleep most of the day.
Love her. |
I got good news from the doctor the other day. My Next Gen tests came back from my initial bone marrow biopsy. She says I have a 95% chance of going into remission after this first round of induction chemo. I’ll still have to do 4 more rounds of consolidation chemo but, she sounded really positive about these results.
FLT3 – not detected
NPM1 – detected
I guess that is good. Whatever that means.
My blood counts are steadily dropping. Not abnormal. But, I will need a blood transfusion. They’re going to come in today and give me red blood cells and platelets. He said they’ll probably be here in a few hours to get the process going.
