If you search around the internet or ask the Facebook world what to give a Cancer patient that is in-patient for an extended period of time, you’ll get a great list that includes:
- your own pillow
- your own comfy clothes
- your own toothbrush, toothpaste, etc…
- iPad or laptop
- streaming service like Netflix
- slippers or easy on/off shoes
- lotions and chapsticks
Those are all great and much needed. But here is my list:
Sweats or Comfy Leggings, I wore LulaRoe a lot in the hospital when I was there. But, my new fave joggers are these from Zyia.
Fun coloring books and pens or crayons. You won’t always feel awful and YOU will get bored. Netflix can only entertain you for so long.
Color Street Mani’s, I always tried to get my nails done before I went in for chemo. I read somewhere once that nail polish could save your nails from the harsh side effects of chemo, so why not. Once I went in for transplant, I used my Color Street nails because I didn’t think going to the salon was a good idea. It’s been over a year, and I only use Color Street now!
A really great moisturizer. Right now, I’m loving Monats Be Gentle Skin Care and Rejuvenique Oil.
Back to the Future Slippers. Yes, you heard that one right. Zach bought me these awesome slippers for some hospital fashion. This isn’t where he bought them, but I can’t find that link.
Protein Powder for sure. I loved Vega brand. I had a blender bottle and would keep Almond Milk in my mini fridge to use. (almond milk is also shelf stable, so I wonder if it even needs to be refrigerated at all. Anyone know?
Slides. These are the best for walking the hallways. Easy to slide on and head out (well, not out, out, but out of your room into the hallway! ha.
An Audible subscription. I got a whole lot of books, I didn’t read a single page. Some people for sure do, I just couldn’t. I did however, listen to books.
Microfiber towels, this is something I wish I had with me. I use them all the time at home and after the fact, realized how awesome it would be to have one of the cloths to wipe down your tray and such. They also have bath towels and body towels that would be great!
Card Games! My favorite was SkipBo. But, you are going to be there for awhile. And again, you won’t always feel awful. It’s nice to have variety.
Reusable Coffee Cup and Water Bottles I liked having these, some hospitals might not let you have them. But, they’re worth getting for sure! You’ll always use them at home.
If you are really into coffee, then you may want an Aeropress or Pour Over. Here is the electric kettle we have too in case you don’t have easy access to hot water. The hospital coffee is pretty much undrinkable!!
Will update again soon.
Love & Light.
